If The Airline Loses Your Luggage, Be Cool - Norway Day 1 & 2
After hours of traveling the last thing you want to hear when you land in Oslo, Norway is "uh-oh". That's what we said after we all stood around the baggage carousal, craning our necks to look under and over, hoping they'd magically appear if we searched hard enough. But nope, nada.
My family carried on with the airline for a bit, then quickly found it to be completely pointless. Norwegians are laid back, the luggage will get here when it gets here. This is my fourth time being here but I still forget. Norway is a huge flashing sign in life that says Take It Easy, Slow Down, or Life Will Be Here When You Get Back.
I was a little frustrated at first. All of my clothes, what am I gonna do with no hair products, no makeup? OH. MY. GOD. But all the worry melted away when we arrived to our hotel in Langesund. The weather greeted us with a cool breeze, the kind of breeze that calls for an optional light jacket and sandals. We settled in right by the water and photos just don't do it justice. I'm battling the urge to jump in and wash this airplane smell away from my clothes. Guys, I took a shower but still. 16 hour airplane clothes. And that water is just so crystal-y. I want it.
If the cool breeze doesn't wash away your anxiety about lost luggage the food will. Hearty potatoes and grilled trout dipped in hollandaise sauce for dinner is heaven on a plate. And when you wake up everything you dreamed of is really there waiting for you at breakfast time. The bread so fresh you know they just baked it like 10 minutes ago, the sunny side up eggs, the perfectly seasoned fish, and the watermelon that looks so perfect it can't be real. All of this on your plate with a few cups of tea and you'll be worry free and ready to explore this town. Who cares if you've been wearing the same thing for almost (*cringes) 3 days?
